Save the Turtles! 🐢

We travelled to Cape Verde when Oliver was just an embryo in my tummy and we set some baby turtles free into the ocean as part of a conservation programme. Did you know that only 1 in a 1000 turtles 🐢 will survive? Isn’t that CRAZY?! I’ve always thought that turtles look prehistoric 😂 They actually date back to the Dinosaur era. After swimming with them in Mexico (one tick off my bucket list) I quickly learned that they are very graceful, peaceful and mesmerising.

50% of turtles in our oceans have consumed plastic and they are rapidly declining due to poaching, climate change, construction along our shores and pollution. I can’t wait to take Oliver on holiday when he is old enough to teach him the importance of conservation, preservation and the effect we have on our planet.

Some turtle facts;

*Turtles have been here over 100 million years – outliving dinosaurs!

*They live for hundreds of years

*One of the most endangered species on our planet

*Female turtles will return and lay eggs on the beach they were born

*Females lay 50-200 eggs in each nest 2-8 times a season but only 1 in a 1000 will survive to adulthood.

🤞PLEASE REMEMBER TO RECYCLE. WHEN SHOPPING WHY NOT LOOK FOR PRODUCTS THAT ARE NOT PACKAGED USING PLASTIC🤞

There are tonnes of conservation projects all around the world should you wish to take your children on one – Some can be found here :
